Artist's Comments

"the sleep of reason produces monsters” is a portrayal of the consequences that follow neglect and inactivity of the mind in society and among ones personal truth, when intentions are expressed and theirs a lack of reason in the expression usually social opinions lead to the greater loss for all, evil will always inhabit and prevail when good people do nothing.

the desk in the original work of Goya is changed here to a television to show the depth of mans sleep of reason and
the animals are fighting mans destruction while bombs fall among all

original by Francisco Goya

I like your use of shading and the dark creatures in the back. Especially the shading. It looks a lot like the original :)

I like the use of the television. Everything else in general makes it pretty good. Also, the overall sleep of reason thing is a great idea. Good work.

This is a very interesting take on the original. I hadn't seen any of Goya's graphite(or whatever that is...)works, only paintings before now, but I like what he said with his and your modernizing of it....very appropriate in the age of television. The scan seems a little fuzzy, but the work itself is very good.
